Dental Veneers Improve Your Smile and Resist Future Dental Stains

Posted .

Dental stains are a common problem for many Americans who enjoy dark foods and beverages as well as tobacco. This can leave you feeling socially awkward and looking for solutions. Fortunately, Dr. Ferrell has several options for dealing with dental stains and improving the appearance of your smile.

A dental bleaching treatment is very effective at removing stains that have managed to saturate deep into your tooth enamel. However, if you continue with the same activities, the dental stains will eventually return.

One way to improve your smile’s appearance and mitigate the chances of future dental stains is to have dental veneers installed over the faces of each tooth in your smile. This will effectively restore the luster and appearance of the teeth. At the same time, the porcelain material will not be as receptive to future stains as your natural tooth enamel. This will give you a white and winning smile that is easy to maintain.

The process starts with a thorough examination of each tooth in your smile. If one of your teeth lacks sufficient enamel to anchor a veneer, or if it was repaired by a dental filling, your dentist might recommend having the tooth restored with a porcelain dental crown.

Your dentist will then use a drill to remove a small amount of enamel from the face of each tooth. Dr. Ferrell will then form an impression of each tooth that needs a dental veneer. This will be sent to an off-site dental lab where the veneer shells will be formed.

When the veneers are ready, a member of our staff will call you to schedule a follow-up appointment. During this appointment, the veneers will be painstakingly cemented in place with a strong dental adhesive.
